Crystal Bowls

My daughter, Gabby, and I worked on Crystal bowls in watercolor today.  These are based on a photo by Vicki Greene from WCW and a demo by Susan Roper.  the original demo used sepia, but we decided to use green (mine) and blue (Gabby) :)

This is my first try at an ocean wave.  This is oil, based on a painting by Lowell Speers.

touched up yesterdays painting

After consulting with my aspiring artist son, we determined that the block of color (the cove) in the bottom left was too strong and was pulling our view out of the painting.  I also realized that I didn't reflect the brown cove itself in the water...oops :)  anyway, I prefer not to fix a painting after the fact...matter of fact I had made it a cardinal rule ..NOT to touch paintings after signing..but I couldn't resist.  It isn't fixed as well as I would have been able to had I done it before the birch trees..but I do think it is better.
