My first completed Colored Pencil Work

I am LOVING colored pencil!! it is so transportable and the layering of dozens of colors over sometimes dozens of hours is very relaxing :)

I have worked on a number of demos but these Iris' are my first completed work.

last pastel for awhile - Fields of Dandilions

I feel I must take a break from pastels for awhile.  they are such a job to set up and the materials are terribly expensive.  I am burned out from them and look forward to working on my new passion which is colored pencils!! I will also as always continue working with watercolors :)  Always trying to get looser in my work.  And, after speaking at length with another artist I would love to expand my work to 3D and try my hand at sculpture.
anyway, here is a pic of the dandelion pastel.  Stay tuned for some colored pencil pics and updates on my Fall classes for kids and the fall watercolor class for adults!

Art Sale and Tour

Wow, I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted on here!  I have been very busy getting ready for the http://www.artsaleandtour.com/.
I matted and framed 19 paintings for the show.  It was alot of work and took weeks and weeks!  The show though, was a great success for all the artists involved!  A special thanks to Garry Ritchie of the Frostburg Museum for putting up with me for two weeks :)

I am also very pleased that I SOLD one :)( see the last picture for the my painting "Red Sun in the Morning" and its new owner :)

Here are a number of pics from the two weekend show :) Including art from Donna Godlove, Lisa Sheirer and Dennis Sherald who were stationed at the Frostburg Museum with me.

Classes week 6

Here are two of the finished peacock paintings the K-3 class did.  I forgot to take pics during class, parents, so if you can send me a pic of your childs painting I would be glad to include it!
grades 4-6 collaged and painted sunflowers today that they drew using basic shapes.

Teen class drew the sunflowers from photos and learned to layer colored pencil.  They started by blocking in large shapes and following the contours to make a basic drawing then went back in to add details and lastly layered color pencil from light to dark to add shading and depth.
